Thread: UPS Jackasses

    Default UPS Jackasses

So I had a package coming in today and I'm dealing with UPS jackassery.

03/09/2010 7:33 A.M. FORWARDED TO THE FACILITY IN THE DESTINATION CITY
    03/09/2010 6:51 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY

The current status of the package is listed as exception. Somehow there's an exception and they're forward the package from my city... to my city... Anyone deal with any of this sort of thing from UPS or have any insight? Google isn't really resulting in anything at the moment.

I'd guess they put it on the wrong truck. You'll probably get it tomorrow, or if it's super important you can try to pick it up at the distribution center after the truck returns but before the counter staff leave (this window gets smaller all the time).

I ordered a book a while back that went "Out for Delivery" in Rhode Island, rather than going to Vermont first. It was quickly rerouted that night and delivered the next day.

Also, FedEx Home Delivery is pretty much the worst service you can get. I'm not really a big union fan, but UPS does have some standards. FedEx HD is all contracted and subcontracted out. No one knows or cares what happens.

Home delivery really means, they'll get to it that day, last thing, after they've taken care of all their by 10am/overnight priority type things, in my experience.

Or you get to know your local package dealer, chat them up and you get your packages straight from the distro center >.>

When I was in college and building a PC, I would drive to the UPS distribution center and intercept the packages in order to get them faster. It's important at least to understand that we have this option. There are real addresses to the locations on those internet tracking sites.

I know my two cents probably doesn't mean much, but FedEX is the worst. I live about 30 minutes away from Louisville, and when I order something that comes FedEx, it's usually a taxi cab driver that brings it around 8pm, and he has to call you in order to get directions.

UPS is awesome in my area. Of course, UPS World Headquarters are in Louisville. If I do 3 day service I get it in 2 most of the time. UPS drivers are always constantly here between 3-5pm. The only thing that bothers me is that sometimes they don't make me sign for anything. I just bought a new HD video card and 28" monitor, about $700, and they just delivered it to my door. Didn't make me sign the little pad or anything and he had it in his hand. Weird, but at least it got to me and not my brother. He's been eying my monitor ever sense.
